Kai Spande, manager of the Corvette plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky, spoke Friday at the University of Northern Iowa! James Mahoney, a salesperson at Runde Chevrolet in East Dubuque, attended the event with members of the Key City Corvette Club. “It was really cool,” James said. “He gave us some insight on the factory and while he couldn’t give us too many details, he said they will be switching up things on how they build the 2018 vehicles. They will be shutting down the factory for a little bit to re-vamp it.” The event attracted about 50 people, many of whom arrived in Corvettes. Corvette clubs from Cedar Falls, Dubuque, and Cedar Rapids were invited, but the rainy weather kept some of the sports cars in garages.   [...]
Cletus and Candy Saam, of Galena, IL, picked up their third Corvette from Runde Auto Group yesterday! The torch red 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe sparkled in the sun outside the dealership as the couple, clad in their Corvette T-shirts, spoke about their love of Chevrolet. “He’s been a Chevy person since he started driving,” Candy said about Cletus. “His cars are more than cars, they are his babies. He’s picky about them and he takes care of them. I get a lot of exercise because we park really far away from everything.” Their salesperson was Dave Frazier at Runde Chevrolet in East Dubuque, IL. “He wasn’t high pressure,” Candy said. “High pressure doesn’t go well with me.” She said the vehicles they buy get plenty of road time. “We drive them,” Candy [...]
Alan Schorr lives 3,000 miles away. If you wanted to go on a nice, long drive, that’s a straight 60 hour non-stop drive from our PreDriven store in Hazel Green, WI. It wasn’t the frigid climate that got this Alaskan away from home to come to the states. It was fate, met with a ridiculously hot deal that not even 3,000 miles could stand in the way of. Alan, I hear you had quite the trip to get here? I live in Juneau, Alaska. Alaska is a big place, we live in a part of Alaska that’s actually close to the United States at just 1,100 miles north of the border. How was the flight? I took three planes to get here. I flew from Alaska to Seattle then from Seattle to Chicago and another flight from Chicago to Dubuque. Someone from your dealership picked me up from the Dubuque airport and that’s [...]

The event had a record turnout for the club that consists of 77 proud Vette owners. Members of the group come from all over the Tri-States including Platteville, Dyersville, Bellevue and Galena. Enjoy some photos of their rides from their road trip! [slideshow]
2011 officially marks the 100th year for Chevrolet. 100 years is quite a bit of time for any business to stay up and running. But boy, is it running smooth. Through the years Chevrolet has become a leader in the automotive industry and only shows signs of growing stronger. Lets take a look back to see how it all started. GM was started by automotive marketer William C. Durant in 1908. Through the years Durant took notice of the famous racer, Louis Chevrolet, as he set the land-speed record in 1905 for reaching 111 MPH in a special open race car. Durant hired Chevrolet to do big races and promotional drives for his company. Being cast out from the company he founded, Durant left GM in 1910 and got together with Mr. Chevrolet and some of [...]
Going about our daily business here at Runde’s, we pretty much know everyone we work with so it’s pretty obvious when a new face pops up wearing a Runde shirt. This happened again a few weeks again.  After finally figuring out that this reoccurring face was not just an extremely loyal customer who loved wearing Runde garments, we seized up the opportunity to interview our newest employee, Brian Pinch.   What do you do here at Runde’s?   I’m a sales consultant here for new Chevy vehicles.   How long have you worked here?   I’ve been here just a few weeks now.   Are you originally from the area?   I’m originally from Dubuque and lived here most of my life.  I lived in Cedar Rapids until fourth grade.   What is your best experience at Runde’s to date?   My best experience [...]
We all caught a laugh or two watching the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Most of us know that he has his own shop and is a vehicle enthusiast. Less of us know that he loves Corvette’s and that the lucky guy has the first ever made ’09 ZR1 Corvette. Out of all of the foreign and powerhouse cars Jay has, he always seems to praise Chevy and keeps commenting on how reliable and great they are. This guy really knows his stuff about the automotive industry, I was really impressed to hear him list off horse powers, features and specifics of different vehicles on the spot.   [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpunhO_bBe8]   There you have it, from the man behind the laughs that knows his stuff: Corvette seems to be the way to go, and if you’d like to go that way, visit us at www.rundechevrolet.com or give us a call at (815) 747-3011 and we would be [...]
Ever wonder how they get those Corvettes (ESPECIALLY the ZR1)  so shiny and nice? This past week we had the pleasure of having a customer come in who owns this beautiful ’68 Chevy Camaro. It’s not too often that you see a Camaro of this year in such good shape. While he was here, we let him check out the new 2010 Camaro to get a sense of what the grandchild of his car is like. We all know that cars can’t talk without the aid of Hollywood’s magic.   However, I wonder what the conversation would be like if these two could have an actual car-to-car verbal exchange.   Take a look at these two together:
Today I sat down with Casey Fluhr, another one of those smiling faces I always see while walking around Runde Chevrolet. In return for all of the warm “good morning’s” and “how-ya-doin’s” he passed my way, I am now sharing him with the world on a relatively new technology I refer to as the World Wide Web. We might as well get right down to it — What do you do here? Service consultant … when you bring a vehicle in, we will check you in and ask you what’s wrong with your vehicle.  I write repair orders and talk to mechanics about the vehicle problems. How long have you worked here? I’ve been here almost 16 years.   I started out washing cars here as a high school job and then worked my way up to where I am [...]
The announcement of the Corvette Centennial concept car at the Chicago Auto Show, introduced by GM, has received various opinions here at Runde. When employees were asked what their opinion was about the concept car there was emotion in the air. Some were taken back, like Al Dellabella of Runde Buick, who said “That looks like something from the 60’s with the front fender and the torpedo rear window.” Others were shocked by the build. They call it a concept car for a reason…”   The car is modeled from the original 1959 Stingray racer and will be featured in the upcoming movie Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen which will be released on June 26th. The Corvette will be the character Sideswipe from the movie (shown below).  There is no plan of the car actually coming into production but there is a chance that the design elements used in the concept could come to fruition in [...]
There are many sports cars on the market, but according to MSN Auto, the top 3 researched are 1) Chevrolet Corvette, 2) Ford Mustang, and 3) Dodge Challenger. We have a good selection of Corvettes and Mustangs available at our East Dubuque Chevrolet and Manchester Ford-Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep stores. Challengers are available by order, and we also have a few arriving soon!  The 2009 Corvette moves into uncharted territory for GM; the new ZR1 comes on the scene with a 638-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 and a 6 speed manual transmission. What capabilities does this add to the ‘Vette? 205 MPH. The standard Corvette has a 430-horsepower V8 and still manages to get 26 mpg on the highway and 16 mpg in the city. This year marks the 45th anniversary of the Mustang in it’s 2009 model year. It is one of the most popular cars in the Ford lineup, and is also one of the last affordable American-made sports cars. The GT [...]
On its GMNext website, Chevrolet recently revealed that it ran the ZR1 Corvette all the way up to 205 mph at a test track in Papenburg, Germany. Luckily they installed a video camera on the inside of the car to capture the footage for the world to see. Life can move pretty fast, but this car simply flies down that straightaway … just goes to show what 638 horsepower can do for you. The test track that they’re on is in Papenburg, Germany. The track was build in 1985 about 80 miles west of Bremen, Germany. It is operated by a Mercedes-Benz’s affiliate Automotive Testing Papenburg (ATP). It’s a 7.7 mile oval track that’s out in the middle of what appears to be farmland according to the satellite photo (see photo below). As for the ZR1, there are many out there who are anticipating her arrival. But for now we’ll all just have to wait. [...]
