GM implemented their “Project Driveway” program a few years ago. The test-drive program allows GM to partner with consumers or companies who agree to driving GM’s fuel cell vehicles in a “lab rat” type of situation. Yesterday, GM announced a newest member of the program, the world’s first and largest market test of fuel cell vehicles. Chevrolet and the United States Postal Service have teamed up for a trial-run of Hydrogen-powered fuel cell Chevy Equinoxes. Two of the USPS locations will be using them. Irvine, CA is the only one released so far, with a second releasing soon. The Equinox fuel cell car will be used 6 days a week on regular delivery routes. This is not the first time the Postal Service has joined forces with GM. In 2004, they tried out a HydroGen3 fuel cell vehicle in the Northern Virgina area, with Irvine, California copying them in 2006. Both of these programs ended in [...]
I’m sure you all have seen an Equinox while you were out and about getting groceries or going to the bank, and wondered…”Ooh, I like that! What is it?!” Chevrolet introduced it in 2005, and it is one of the most popular SUVs on the market. I took one for a spin the other day and did the walk-around video. It rides so smooth! I loved all the extra options it offered, and the price didn’t reflect all of the extra stuff it had. XM, OnStar, All-Wheel Drive, and Power moonroof makes this vehicle even hotter to drive down the highway. Check out my Equinox video, and give Runde’s a call to take a test drive!
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1cnGmbeVJE&hl=en&fs=1] Chevrolet will release the Silverado Hybrid late in the fall of 2008 (in limited quantities). It has a two-mode engine, allowing for 5 power combinations. The first mode can work in 3 ways: electric, engine power, or a mixture of the two. These are used in low speed, light load conditions for optimal fuel efficiency. The second mode is used for highway speeds, allowing the truck the capacity to run in either a four-cylinder or eight-cylinder modes. They offer the ability to tow or handle rough conditions. This engine allows for 40% more efficienct city driving and 25% more efficient highway driving. The truck has all the available options as the other Silverados, but a new fuel efficiency gage is available in the hybrid. It tells you if the truck is operating at the optimum level. Chevy takes pride in the high-quality, dependable vehicles they produce, and the Silverado Hybrid is no exception.
Comparisons based on data available in the model year 2008 Fuel Economy Guide, published by the U.S. Department of Energy, the office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency — www.fueleconomy.gov. Number of vehicles for each manufacturer includes variations in transmission, engine and trim, and fuel octane requirements. Chevrolet is the domestic leader at 23.26 MPG, just .45 behind Honda. Honda only has 1 model in the truck category, whereas Chevy has a full line of trucks, cargo vans, mini vans, SUVs, and cars.   Below is the Top 10 List for the Average Miles Per Gallon across all spectrums: cars, SUVs, trucks, and vans.
Jolene Boever of Dubuque, Iowa had this to say about her buying experience at Runde Chevrolet: “Wayne Konrardy was my dealer and I’ve changed the model of car because of this terrific salesman. He is the best and he treats everyone like family. He is the reason I bought this Cobalt!”
Mr. Frett, Thank you so much for the professionalism you showed when I came in with no appointment to get my tire fixed yesterday. I appreciated the wonderful service that you provided in a situation that you weren’t expecting. So often when people are in that type of situation, they are less than kind, so I wanted to make sure I thanked you. Thanks for all you do everyday! Deb Schromen of Hazel Green, WI   Reminder: The 72 hour Chevy and Buick sale will end Monday, June 30th.
GM confirmed this week that they will design and build a 40 MPG Chevrolet compact car. This was part of its the General Motors announcement about product strategy upcoming changes. Production is set to start in mid-2010.This next-generation compact will be equipped with a 1.4-liter turbocharged version of GM’s global four-cylinder engine. It said the new Chevy should achieve about a 9 MPG improvement over Chevy’s current compact model. They didn’t specify the exact fuel economy that the new compact will get, but they promised that it will acheive at least 40 MPG on the highway — not bad for a non-hybrid car.
The Mark of Excellence is the original name of the logo for the GM Corporation. It was first used by GM in 1966 and the logo originally included the phrase “Mark of Excellence” at the bottom. It was initially installed on the door jambs of GM vehicles. Some of us older folks might recall that the logo also was also stamped on the release buttons of seat belt buckles in GM vehicles until the mid-1990s. The “Mark of Excellence” is also an award. Runde Chevrolet was presented with this award just last week for their sales and customer satisfaction results again. Runde Chevrolet has won this award numerous times, however GM keeps raising the bar and winning the award thus becomes more of a challenge with the passing of each year. GM representatives were on hand in East Dubuque to present [...]
The Runde sales staff’s knowledge about the features of this car was superior to any other dealership I looked at for this car. Their product knowledge is outstanding. I want to give special thanks to the sales and finance people who stayed late the day we picked up our new Corvette.      Scott Norman Carol Stream, IL I bought a 2000 Blazer on Saturday. I was very pleased with the service of Al Kloft. I feel I was treated fairly on the vehicle sale and will spread the word to friends, co-workers, etc.       Bob Welch Dubuque, IA I am originally from the area and know many people who have purchased from the Runde Group and have been pleased with the quality and service provided. I look forward to being a recipient of the quality and service [...]
You may have already seen these photos, however they are still the most accurate pictures of the new Camaro that will be released not too far off in the future. First, they are the only ones around showing the final headlight design. All of the ones that have been released to this point still have the temporary set up headlamps. Also these particular shots are the only ones around of the production version of the long-awaited Camaro convertible. If you’re interested in putting your name on a sign-up list to order one of the very first new Camaro’s that will come off the GM production line, then please contact the sales department at Runde Chevrolet at 800-947-8633
On its GMNext website, Chevrolet recently revealed that it ran the ZR1 Corvette all the way up to 205 mph at a test track in Papenburg, Germany. Luckily they installed a video camera on the inside of the car to capture the footage for the world to see. Life can move pretty fast, but this car simply flies down that straightaway … just goes to show what 638 horsepower can do for you. The test track that they’re on is in Papenburg, Germany. The track was build in 1985 about 80 miles west of Bremen, Germany. It is operated by a Mercedes-Benz’s affiliate Automotive Testing Papenburg (ATP). It’s a 7.7 mile oval track that’s out in the middle of what appears to be farmland according to the satellite photo (see photo below). As for the ZR1, there are many out there who are anticipating her arrival. But for now we’ll all just have to wait. [...]
Anyone who is from the Tri-State area is probably familliar with and fond of the The 19th Hole restaurant in East Dubuque, IL. It’s situated halfway between Runde Chevrolet and Runde Suzuki-PreDriven on Hwy 35N. Runde employees have been enjoying food from this establishment for years. Mike Lawler (detail specialist) adds, “It’s definitely good food — the best burgers in town.” I have no problem agreeing with Mike about the burgers. Runde’s places a to-go order from the 19’th Hole probably 50 of the 52 Saturdays throughout the course of any given year and the burgers have never failed to keep this blogger’s engine firing on all cylinders. Click on the menu to the right to check out the current offerings at The 19th Hole. Of course, as their name suggests, the restaurant offers much more [...]
“I have been extremely happy with both the sales and service offered at Runde’s. I will always look to them first when buying a vehicle.” Mike Birkett of Hazel Green, WI “Tim Runde is a nice person to talk to. Their office and service people are very nice too!” Gerald White of Galena, IL   “Awesome dealership. I look forward to working with Runde’s on my next purchase.” Todd Ostwinkle of Cedar Rapids, IA “Runde is a great dealership. No hassle business – Tim Runde is very easy to work with.” Bill McFadden of Apple River, IL
There are 36 inches in a yard. 36 is the atomic number of Krypton. There are 36 barleycorns in an English foot. In the year 36 AD Emperor Kuang Wu Ti of China defeated the last of the warlords and reunited the country. In a perfect five star triangle, the angle of each tip measures 36 degrees. The probability of throwing double six on two dice is one in 36. William Shakespeare wrote 36 plays. And for those of you familiar with the Pittsburg Steelers: For many years, if you saw the number 36 it meant that The Bus was coming. Of course remember that 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 = 36. What’s all the hubbub about 36 ? Well Chevrolet recently announced that they have achieved an impovement on the fuel ecomony of the 2008 Chevy Cobalt. Now any LS or LT [...]
“Clean and smooth transaction in everyway! Thanks!” Geoff Cox of Stockton, IL“Wayne Konrardy is an excellent professional sales consultant. He answered all our questions. We felt important and pampered. We loved his laid back professional personality. We will recommend him to everyone.” Mary Laugesen of Dubuque, IA “Rob did a very nice job. It was very busy that day, but he answered all of our questions and treated us very well.” Nick Kremer of Cascade, IA “Probably one of the best buying experiences we’ve had. It was the best vehicle orientation we’ve ever had!!” Dan Kautz of LaPorte City, IA
Working for a GM dealership, the benefits of the GM Certified Used Vehicle program is something that has become permanently chiseled in our minds. But for customers who don’t deal with this stuff everyday, GM vehicle certification may seem a somewhat foreign term. So I thought I’d take up a little space here to go over the ins and outs of what a GM Certified Used Vehicle actually is.To even be considered for the GM Certified program, a vehicle must be 2003 model year or newer, with fewer than 60,000 miles. These are vehicles that either meet GM’s rigid standards for quality or they won’t be certified.     GM Certified Used Vehicles (Buick, Chevrolet, GMC, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac) are available at Runde Auto Group, and all feature: 100,000-Mile/5-Year Powertrain Limited Warranty — Now, [...]
Frank Oresnik of southeastern Wisconsin achieved a major milestone on February 9, 2008, when his gas-engine 1991 Chevy Silverado pickup with a reached 1,000,000 miles on it’s odometer and the truck still has it’s original engine. Frank had a camera crew and local radio stations capture the event. He passed the million-mile mark in southeastern Wisconsin while on his way back home to Catawba, located in the north in Price County, about an hour west of Rhinelander.   GM is now featuring Frank and his truck, which he calls “the old girl,” in a National commercial that you can view below. Frank bought his truck in 1996 with only 41,000 miles on it and has since used it for his personal business delivering seafood and steaks around the upper Midwest. Oresnik credits his 1 millionth mile to his regular oil changes — he said that the truck has had over 300 oil changes in [...]
The retro look is now back in full force as Dodge will soon unleash the Challenger SRT8. The new Challenger will compete head-to-head with the Ford Mustang in the retail muscle car market. And not too far off in the future, Chevy will release their all-new Camaro that will hint back to the ’69 Camaro of yesteryear. Dodge representatives have not yet announced final pricing for the more-affordable SE and R/T models, but they have said it will be priced to take on the Mustang, which starts at $20,000. This is good news for those who like the look of the car, but aren’t willing or able to shell out the beaucoup bucks that the SRT8 will undoubteldy command. Please feel free to call to the Runde Dodge Store in Manchester at 888-927-2630 for more information about the availability of the all-new Challenger. Dodge has already sold more [...]
My winning the lottery fantasies have recently ended with the Corvette ZR1 … or rather, my driving off into the sunset in a ZR1. It’s just dream for a lot of folks right now because the ZR1 is still in pre-production, but for some like me it might remain a dream for a long time to come due to the premium price tag that will accompany this beast of a car. I’ve watched this video countless times and each time the car goes by and sounds like a jet it never ceases to plaster a smile on my face. Check it out.
Runde’s first Hybrid Tahoe is currently on the lot and available for test-drives. Several of the staff members at Runde Chevrolet have driven the vehicle and were impressed with the fit and finish of the vehicle. This is something that GM certainly didn’t rush to get out on the market. They really did their homework and took their time in the development stages and the result is an extremely q uiet, fuel-efficient, full-size 4WD SUV that looks like it should cost about $10,000 more than the list price.CLICK HERE for a VIDEO WALK AROUND of the new 2008 TAHOE HYBRID ! The first thing that struck me was the exterior look of the Hybrid. It has a real upscale look with unique and refined aluminum wheels and it can easily be identified as a hybrid — mainly due to the fact that it says [...]
Today we found ourselves digging out of yet another snowstorm as Mother Nature decided to blanket our area with a foot of snow. It was actually a very pretty day, until you had to get in your vehicle and actually drive someplace. Whether you were heading to work, to the store, or to get your taxes done — the roadways proved treacherous as plows couldn’t keep up with the rate the snow was coming down. As of right now the storm that hovered over the Tri-State area for most of Wednesday is now heading in the right direction — away from us. Almost all schools were closed in the region today and many people were sent home from work early, but overall the Missippi Valley area coped admirably with day’s abominable weather. It’s closing [...]
