As we move forward into the future, things change. You get a Mohawk .. your dad unveils that he is superman … or you come home to the pleasant surprise of your dog having an all-you-can-eat buffet of anything and everything in the house. Changes can be big or small, and lately, in the automotive industry there have been several changes. Beyond the scope of any economic woes, one big development in the automotive industry in the last couple of years has been the concept and implementation of electronic and hybrid vehicles.              A quick lesson: Electric cars – 100% emission free – secure their power from batteries, the sun or hydrogen fuel cells. Being able to pull power from other sources; they are definitely more efficient on gas.   Hybrid cars – Combine the cleaner energy of the electric motor with the long-range power of the gasoline engine. Not as efficient [...]
Runde Chevrolet in East Dubuque recently had the opportunity to make a road trip to the Chicago Auto Show. We managed to pull up our jaws and glance at our cameras every once in awhile to snap some photos for you. We hope you enjoy viewing a few of the amazing vehicles that were there! Chevy ran an impressive show with an array of cars including the all- electrical Volt (left) and the new Equinox (right) [...]
I recently had an opportunity to interview a friendly face here at Runde. Gary Reiter has been a committed member of the Runde group and is always a joy to be around. Let’s get to know him a little better.   What do you do here at Runde’s?     I’m the Manager of the Reconditioning Department at Runde Suzuki-Predriven.   How long have you worked here?   Oh, I’ve been here for a little over two years now.   Are you originally from the area?   Yes, I’m originally from Dubuque.   What is your best experience at Runde’s to date?
Sparked with jealousy and envy I write this post. Filled to the brim in all things cool – movie and television characters have it all… including cars I and, apparently, my fellow co-workers want to have. We love seeing our favorite characters cruise, leap, fly, chase and swim with their outrageously sweet rides. Here’s a list of the top 5 cars from movies and television we appreciate the most. #5. 1969 Dodge Charger “General Lee” from The Dukes of Hazzard  #4. 1970s Camaro, rebuilt as a 2008/2009 Camaro prototype in the 2007 movie Transformers #3. 1977 Firebird Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit #2. 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am “KITT” from Knight Rider #1. 67’ Shelby GT 500 Mustang “Eleanor” from Gone in 60 Seconds   Horable mentions: The Mystery Machine Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Batmobile Herbie
You know you’ve seen them all over the place, the self-accliamed rock stars and vocalists of the roads. People listening to music so good that it makes them want to impress their audience of steering wheel, cup holder and bobble head characters with beautiful mumbled lyrics and cracking voice. Well now you can be inspired to rock even harder, and not feel as bad of energy waste, with the energy efficient Bose system being implemented in the New 2011 Chevy Volt. Prospective buyers of the 2011 Chevrolet Volt will have an option to have a new, ultra-efficient Bose stereo. The stereo uses 50% less energy than equivalent bose systems in cars of similar size according to Chevy. By using parts that are 30% smaller and 40% lighter wired through unique circuitry the system will sound top notch. Opting for the Bose system instead of the stock Volt stereo will net a efficiency equivilent of 50 pounds’ mass reduction according to vehicle line executive Frank Weber. So not only will you have one of the [...]
Becky Kuhl who works in the upstairs office of Runde Chevrolet in East Dubuque was kind enough to give us a little of her time and a little insight into what makes her tick.  It’s been said here at Runde’s that Becky is so very Mary Tyler Moore.   You can be the judge as you checkout what she had to say:     What do you do here at Runde’s?   I am the Incentive Administrator for Runde Chevrolet. Basically, I report to GM the new Chevrolet units that are sold and then I apply for the correct incentives for each model. For some customer rebates, certain documents are required. I’m the one who ensures that customers present us with the proper documentation at the time of [...]
With the Detroit auto show going on this week, a lot of new vehicles have been released from their hiding places. Chrysler’s all-new EV (electric) line made quite an impression, as well as GM’s line of electric and fuel-efficient vehicles. The 2010 Chevy Equinox turned a lot of heads as well. The public show will begin tonight with a charity banquet, and the first full day is Saturday. But, if you’re more interested in sunny southwest desert than you are -50* temps in Michigan, you can go to the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona to see Ford & GM auction off their first production models of the 2010 Shelby GT500 and the Camaro SS. All proceeds will go to the American Heart Association.
“We just want to let you now we are so happy with our mother’s purchase.  Wayne Konrardy of your East Dubuque site was great.  Our mother (Barbara Schroeder) was in a car accident and totaled her 2004 Malibu which she had purchased through Wayne, and we were able to have Wayne help us again to get her another Malibu which she really wanted because she really liked her other one. Wayne was great with MOM and made her feel great even though it was a bad situation.  He was able to get her into something 4 years newer and very close in options plus she got heated seats and a sunroof . She is very please and ready to go back to driving thanks to Wayne.  Thanks.”    Cindy Freiburger of Dubuque

Practicality has been the main characteristic on everyone’s minds at GM, Chrysler, and Ford. Over the past few years, they have been drawing up plans to increase fuel-efficiency, while still allowing enough cargo space for American families, and the amount of ‘stuff’ we all think we need when we travel. The ‘Big 3’ have been pouring their resources into the development of some high-quality family sedans and some new hybrid vehicles. Check out my showcase of a few current models, as well as upcoming releases! Chevrolet Malibu & Malibu Hybrid — CURRENTLY AVAILABLE Malibu–33 mpg & the Malibu Hybrid–34 mpg on the highway _______________________ 2011 Volt 2010 Ford Transit Connect With businesses and delivery services in mind, Ford created the Transit Connect with 143 cubic feet of cargo space, and 24 mpg capacities.   ________ Chrysler 2009 Chrysler Town & Country (AVAILABLE NOW) & 2010 Town & Country EV
This morning’s Today Show showcased the upcoming 2011 Chevrolet Volt and 2011 Dodge EV Electric Cars. They should be available sometime in 2010. Both will be in the $40,000 range, and can go 40 miles on electricity alone. That evens out to about 2 cents per mile. Most Americans don’t drive 40 miles a day if they live in a city and drive to work and home. Even if they have to pick up the kids from soccer practice and piano lessons, they should be under the 40 mile mark. But if they do have to travel farther, when using both gas and electricity, these cars can travel at least 300 miles without a recharge. The Volt will plug into a regular home electrical socket, and has the capacity to be fully charged in between four and eight hours. Although, it will depend on how many miles between charges. The EV is a 268 horsepower sports car that [...]
Dubuque held their annual Halloween Parade last night. There were a lot of people that came out to join in the festivities. The organizers of the pararde probably would have liked a little warmer weather and a little less wind, but they couldn’t have asked for a better turn-out.  Jeff Kueter from the Runde Detail Department participarted in the parade and he said he can’t remember the last time he saw so many people in one place in Dubuque. Runde Auto Group made their first ever appearance in the parade. Our friends and family came out to pass out nerf footballs and keychains. The Runde Community Service Truck, our Split Decision truck, and our Runde golf cart were entries in the parade. We hope all of our friends in Dubuque got to see the vehicles. Everyone had a great time, and we thought we would share some photos with you! All of us at Runde’s [...]
There are many sports cars on the market, but according to MSN Auto, the top 3 researched are 1) Chevrolet Corvette, 2) Ford Mustang, and 3) Dodge Challenger. We have a good selection of Corvettes and Mustangs available at our East Dubuque Chevrolet and Manchester Ford-Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep stores. Challengers are available by order, and we also have a few arriving soon!  The 2009 Corvette moves into uncharted territory for GM; the new ZR1 comes on the scene with a 638-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 and a 6 speed manual transmission. What capabilities does this add to the ‘Vette? 205 MPH. The standard Corvette has a 430-horsepower V8 and still manages to get 26 mpg on the highway and 16 mpg in the city. This year marks the 45th anniversary of the Mustang in it’s 2009 model year. It is one of the most popular cars in the Ford lineup, and is also one of the last affordable American-made sports cars. The GT [...]

Chevy Aveo Named #1!! When one thinks of hybrid vehicles, the first thing that comes to mind is fuel efficiency. Though the concept is great, are the savings in fuel going to outweigh the overall price of the hybrid? Edmunds.com ran this exact study in attempt to find the long-run cost of owning a hybrid car as opposed to a normal gas-powered compact or subcompact car. They then created a list of ‘top tens’ to see where the hybrids ranked in the group.Ownership costs should include depreciation, financing, taxes, fees, insurance premiums, maintenance, repairs, and fuel costs. Edmunds figured all of their numbers on a five-year ownership plan, and assumed fuel prices of $4.06, $5.00, and $6.00 per gallon. The least expensive vehicle with gas prices at the current price of $4.06 was the Chevy Aveo with an average of $0.42 per mile. The Toyota Prius ranked 33rd with an average cost of [...]
The new 2009 Malibu has arrived!! With high standards set by the 2008 model, the new Malibu has its’ work cut out for it…or does it?! The 2008 model had achieved the 30 Mile Per Gallon benchmark with the 4-cylinder engine, which was impressive with the amount of power it also possessed. So what can be expected from the 2009 Malibu? A 33 MPG 4-cylinder 6-speed that matched it’s previous 5-star frontal and side-impact crash test rating. On-Star with turn-by-turn navigation is standard in all models. The 2LT and LTZ models come standard with Chevy’s new wireless Bluetooth technology for cell phones. Throw in GM’s 100,000 mile/5-year transferable Powertrain Limited Warranty, and you have the revamped version of the highest ranked midsize car in initial quality and the 2008 North American Car of the Year!! Come check them out at Runde Chevrolet in East Dubuque, or call us at (800) 947-8633! [...]
Chevrolet has released their intentions of producing a new compact car, the Chevy Cruze. It is a 5-passenger sedan, about the same length as the Cobalt, but execs say the Cruze will make better use of its’ interior space for passengers and cargo. Chevy is trying to lead in fuel economy, with the Cruze reaching a whopping 45 miles per gallon on the highway. They are offering 1.6-liter (112 hp) and 1.8-liter (140 hp) gas engines, and a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine. It is expected to reach the U.S. late 2010, but will be released in Europe and Asia next year. It will be unveiled at the Paris Auto Show in October.
It’s always nice to talk to our fantastic customers while they’re waiting on their vehicles to get serviced. I sat and talked with Tony Fritz for a few minutes in our Chevy store, and he had nothing but good things to say about us…(we like hearing that!!) Runde Auto Chat: What kind of vehicle are you having serviced? Is it just a routine appointment? Tony Fritz: I brought my 2007 Chevy Impala in for an oil change and tire rotation. RAC: Did you buy the Impala from us? TF: Yes RAC: Is there any feature it has that you will look for on your next vehicle purchase? TF: No, it’s a pretty standard package. RAC: Have you bought other vehicles from us? TF: Yes, probably 3 or 4. RAC: What is your favorite thing about Runde and how they do business? TF: They have reasonable prices, and the salesmen don’t pressure you. RAC: Do [...]
As Americans, September 11th is a date that will forever be ingrained into our minds. If asked where they were and what they were doing at the time of the Twin Tower attacks, most of us would be able to describe everything in great detail. If you were watching the Olympics last Monday, you would’ve seen a Chevy commercial featuring a pretty beat up Silverado with a Ladder 5 sign on the back. The pickup belongs to Craig Monahan, a member of the FDNY. He was off-duty at the time of the attacks, and got called in. He had 2 other firefighters with him as they drove in from Staten Island. They parked the truck near the south tower, and watched both towers collapse. He then crawled into the rubble to find the 11 missing firefighters from his firehouse, Engine 24/Ladder 5. When he got back to his truck, he noticed the falling depris [...]
The release of the newest member of Chevrolet’s Crossover/SUV family is quickly approaching. The 2009 Traverse, a 7- or 8-passenger crossover vehicle, will become available this fall. This practical and flashy SUV is going to open a lot of eyes when it graces us with it’s presence at Runde Chevrolet in East Dubuque. The Traverse has 4 available trim levels, similar to the other Chevrolet models. The LS has the essentials, but cuts costs by leaving off all the extra ‘bells and whistles’ offered for the vehicle. Next come the 1LT and 2LT, offering a few more options than the LS, and last is the LTZ, the ‘Top Dawg’ offering all of the extra options you could think of. The Traverse offers fantastic fuel-efficiency, getting 24 Miles Per Gallon in the Front Wheel Drive version on the highway. The All Wheel Drive version averages an impressive 23 MPG on the open road. The 7-passenger package offers 1st row bucket seats, [...]
