You’re rolling down the road jammin’ out to the new Black Eyed Peas album until you feel a little jolt. Slowly, but surely, your car starts to not feel quite right. You nervously pull over and get out to inspect your vehicle. To your pleasant surprise, you find a rather large nail in your tire that is leaking air out. What do you do now? You don’t know quite how to change that tire, you say? Well, that’s what we are here for! We created the following video to help everyone who might not quite know how to change that flat into tire-changin’ pros. A lot of times people are too embarrassed to admit that they don’t know how to change a tire, or have never been put into a situation where they needed to do it. Say no more, here you are – how to change a flat tire. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q97t5qLRfv0]
The Clemen family happened to be out and about and decided to have a nice little chat with me about their experience they had at Runde Suzuki. The conversation ended up being the highlight of my day. Hello, thanks for coming. I heard you bought a vehicle from us recently? Yep. About two weeks ago we got a Chevy HHR. So how have the two weeks been – what have you been using the vehicle for? It’s been great! Beth usually takes it to work and back and we’ve gone out to our parents house a couple of times… we will be using it for pretty much everything. How did your parents like the vehicle? Well I took my Grandma for a ride –she’s going to be 82 next year in June — and she was like, “Oh this is so much nicer to get into than your old van” so she must have liked it. [...]
We give you two of Runde’s newest customers: The Sefziks Where are you originally from? Epworth/Dubuque. What kind of vehicle did you buy? Buick LeSabre 2000 Custom. That’s a well-built car — I like those too. Where is the first place you’ll take your new vehicle? Madison – To go to the granddaughter’s musical program. Both of our granddaughters play hockey and softball so we’ll be going to those games as well. Will you give your new vehicle a name? No! We already have a car that we named “plastic car,” but that will be the extent of it. What was the first car you bought? 1964 Chevy Impala SS 4 speed. Another well-built car — definitely not a plastic car… What’s the best thing about your [...]
So often we see television programs overloaded with commercial after commercial. And for about the past 8 or 9 years these same commercials have made their way into the movie theaters just to annoy us when we show up early for a flick. Furthermore, we have have to ask if there is anyone out there who would just like to view a news clip on Yahoo for once without having to watch the preceeding commercial. From the day we posted our first blog entry, it has always been our policy at here Runde Auto Chat to provide you with uninterrupted, good old-fashioned, wholesome, family-oriented blogging. We haven’t cluttered our blog site with unnecessary and unwarranted advertisements until now … [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWKisUSxjXk&hl=en&fs=1] But seriously folks … If you want to buy Big Red, go to Walgreens and get yourself a pack. If you want to smoke a cigarette, go to Walgreens and buy yourself a pack of smokes (provided you are of the legal [...]
The original band of Runde give-away stuffed “Monkey with Bandana” toys seemed dazed and confused today as a replacement model arrived on the scene. It seems that “Plain White T stuffed Monkey with Logo” toy will be taking their place as the first shipment came in. It’s always tough getting older, but it’s even more difficult to accept getting replaced by someone with less on-the-job experience. The “Monkey with Bandana” toys were around for a couple of years and were handed out on the Runde premises to children of all ages who accompanied their car-buying parents, but it was time for a change. So we’ll say adios to the old and welcome in the new.
Who likes to be pushed around and forced into something they don’t like or want? You could try to convince me that Coke is better than Pepsi and yellow is a better color than blue – but I’m not going to believe it, no matter how convincing you are. I know what I like a little better than anyone else knows my preferences. So trying to tell me that right is left and Girl Scout cookies don’t taste awesome with a cool glass of milk is not going to get you anywhere. A dealership should know the same thing – that they cannot force you into buying something you don’t want or need. The video below shows a common stereotype of salesmen: [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-SK1-iILlY&feature=PlayList&p=9334E4B8F0EAEBF4&index=0] At Runde’s, we believe that our customers are informed enough to be able to decide for themselves what they want (with the possible exception of the times when the 16 and 17 [...]
Recently Ford had quality studies performed by the third party RDA Group. According to the results, Ford is even with Toyota in initial quality tests and they passed up Honda by a significant leap. The results show that in the first quarter of 2009, problems-per-vehicle dropped by 5% to compete head-to-head with Toyota and beating Honda. The latest GQRS survey measured 2009 model year vehicle initial quality in the number of “things gone wrong,” and customer satisfaction within the first three months of ownership. The following is a list of vehicles that were used in the tests and what was tested for each vehicle. • Ford Mustang- initial quality/customer satisfaction for sports cars • Ford Taurus – initial quality for large cars • Ford Taurus X – initial quality for crossover utilities • Mercury Milan – initial quality for midsize cars • Ford Ranger – initial [...]
Every once in awhile you meet someone that can pick you up and make the rest of the day great. The Brosnahan family is consists of these kind of people. Needless to say, they were a joy to interview and an even greater joy to have as a customer. What led you to Runde’s today? Originally my husband, Michael, came in to look at trucks. But we thought about it and we have a Chevy Tahoe that is coming up on its lease and we also have a son who just turned 16 — so we decided to just get another car. Oh, did your husband buy a vehicle as well? Yea, he bought a Chevy Trailblazer and I got a Honda Accord. Is your husband here today? No, he picked up his truck [...]
Today I sat down with Carmen Grawe, from Manchester, Iowa who recently bought a vehicle from us. She was in the Dubuque/East Dubuque area visiting her sister and she was kind enough to stop by the Runde Chevrolet dealership and take some time out of her day to tell us about her family, her life, her experience at Runde’s and anything else she wanted to share. Hey Carmen, thanks for taking some time out today for the interview! So I hear you bought a vehicle from Runde’s recently, what did you end up buying? We bought a blue granite Chevy Silverado 1500 from the Manchester store. Oh, so you bought the vehicle from our Ford store, did they have the Chevy vehicle shipped up to you? Yea, the vehicle was originally at your Chevrolet store in East Dubuque. They transported it up to [...]
Some ideas are bound to become something great. Case-in-point – the 2012 Chevrolet Spark. The vehicle design is based on the 2007 Chevrolet Beat concept car which was voted most popular in comparison to three other “mini” cars. The car will come with a choice of 1 or 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine. It has a wheelbase of slightly over 93 inches and the vehicle measures 143 inches in length. Smaller than most “mini” cars out there, including the Honda Fit. Safety features will vary but will be expected to include: antilock brakes, front and side-air bags, as well as electronic stability control. The car will save you some green as the expected 47 miles-per-gallon is one of the best in the industry. I’m personally excited for the vehicle – it looks sleek, seems roomy, and has four doors (two front and two rear suicide-doors) – something rarely seen in a mini-car. The Spark will go on sale in Europe [...]
Autoblog: “Unlike the Highlander, the Traverse actually has some usable space behind its third-row seat. Where the Traverse really shines is its driving dynamics.” Boston Globe: “It’s sophisticated, yet friendly, edgy without being offensive -attractive.” NY Times: “The Traverse‟s steering was more responsive than the Pilot‟s, and its shifts were smoother. While the Pilot felt like a big S.U.V., the Traverse acted like a particularly agile minivan —although G.M. has managed to keep the Traverse from looking like one.” Popular Mechanics: “It looks great, it’s easy to use as a family hauler and, most important to us, it actually provides a rewarding experience from that left front seat.” USA Today: “…the good looks, improved powertrain and straightforward presentation of styling and features make Traverse quite appealing.” [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-PcJJ7zB2o&hl=en&fs=1] AutoWeek: “…the Traverse, which, quite simply, is one of the best vehicles–not just crossovers–on the market today.” Chicago Sun-Times: “The Traverse is a great family vehicle that‟s both [...]
No one likes to fill up with gas often. Taking huge beasts or power house vehicles on the road that get 12-16MPG can be a downer. Well, future owners of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro have one thing less to worry about as official reports from the EPA rate the Camaro at 18 City/29 Hwy MPG. Below is a fuel economy comparison chart of other muscle cars out there: 2010 Chevy Camaro 2010 Ford Mustang 2010 Dodge Challenger V6 18 city/29 hwy 16 city/24 hwy 17 city/25 hwy V8 16 city/25 hwy 17 city/23 hwy 13 city/19 hwy Add great fuel economy to an estimated 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds and you have a car that is not only fast and powerful but an all-in-one package. Pat Timmerman – one of the longest lasting and friendliest faces around Runde’s. This week we got a chance to pull him away for a little bit to get to know him better. What do you do here at Runde’s? I’m the nut in the squirrel farm! I am the service manager aka “fixed operations” for the four stores. I make sure that customers are taken care of and always have staff in place to accommodate to the customer for their convenience. How long have you been doing this gig? Oh I’m not even sure… lets see… since ’96? yea, since 96 – so about 13 years. One of the originals, huh? You’ve been here so long, have you always been from the area? Yeah, I’ve pretty much always been from Dubuque. I lived [...]

With the Detroit auto show going on this week, a lot of new vehicles have been released from their hiding places. Chrysler’s all-new EV (electric) line made quite an impression, as well as GM’s line of electric and fuel-efficient vehicles. The 2010 Chevy Equinox turned a lot of heads as well. The public show will begin tonight with a charity banquet, and the first full day is Saturday. But, if you’re more interested in sunny southwest desert than you are -50* temps in Michigan, you can go to the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona to see Ford & GM auction off their first production models of the 2010 Shelby GT500 and the Camaro SS. All proceeds will go to the American Heart Association.
“We just want to let you now we are so happy with our mother’s purchase. Wayne Konrardy of your East Dubuque site was great. Our mother (Barbara Schroeder) was in a car accident and totaled her 2004 Malibu which she had purchased through Wayne, and we were able to have Wayne help us again to get her another Malibu which she really wanted because she really liked her other one. Wayne was great with MOM and made her feel great even though it was a bad situation. He was able to get her into something 4 years newer and very close in options plus she got heated seats and a sunroof . She is very please and ready to go back to driving thanks to Wayne. Thanks.” Cindy Freiburger of Dubuque

Dubuque held their annual Halloween Parade last night. There were a lot of people that came out to join in the festivities. The organizers of the pararde probably would have liked a little warmer weather and a little less wind, but they couldn’t have asked for a better turn-out. Jeff Kueter from the Runde Detail Department participarted in the parade and he said he can’t remember the last time he saw so many people in one place in Dubuque. Runde Auto Group made their first ever appearance in the parade. Our friends and family came out to pass out nerf footballs and keychains. The Runde Community Service Truck, our Split Decision truck, and our Runde golf cart were entries in the parade. We hope all of our friends in Dubuque got to see the vehicles. Everyone had a great time, and we thought we would share some photos with you! All of us at Runde’s [...]
If you drive by the East Dubuque location, you may notice that there’s a new face in town. The new Traverse has settled in at the Runde Chevrolet lot, and more are arriving daily! We currently have a Silver Ice LTZ and a Cyber Gray 2LT. Both of these vehicles are well-equipped, but the LTZ has all of the possible ‘bells & whistles’. They both have the Dual Skyscape Sunroof, which is a feature that has quickly become popular with customers. The Traverse was designed to be similar to the Buick Enclave, which has been a very popular crossover over the last year. Motortrend has named the Traverse as a 2009 Sport/Utility of the Year Contender! Get a closer look at the 2009 Traverse with our Walk-Around Video!! [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1KCt8ehoQE&hl=en&fs=1] Stop by our East Dubuque location to take a look at our current Traverse inventory, or call a salesperson at (800) 947-8633!
The service department at our East Dubuque store can have a pretty hectic schedule, but Dave was nice enough to talk with me for a few minutes so I, and all of you, can get to know him a little better. Ron (who also works in the service department) informed me that if we want the ‘true’ answers to the questions, we can ask him at a later time. Ha! Runde Auto Chat: What does your job entail at Runde Auto Group and how long have you been with them? Dave Frett: I’m a service advisor. I set appointments, make sure jobs get done, complete paperwork, make sure our customers are more than satisfied with our work, and test-drive all the vehicles after the service is done. RAC: What do you like most about working at Runde’s? DF: There is something new everyday, and I’m always learning. RAC: [...]
Runde Chevrolet is the mainframe for all of Runde Auto Group. The majority of our business employees work out of that store, and they have a pretty good size sales staff. These guys are very knowledgeable, and have a real passion for cars and the people they work with. Meet our Runde Chevrolet Sales Staff! Sales Manager John Riley lives in Dubuque with his wife, Mari Lea. They have a son, Taylor, at the University of Iowa working on his CPA, and a daughter, Brooke, at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. He enjoys golf, working, and spending time with his family. He is an intelligent Iowa fan, but seems to be lacking in the baseball and football spectrum, liking the Scrubs and DAAA Bears. He drives a Chevrolet Monte Carlo, and [...]
