Runde’s was recently honored to have San Francisco 49ers draft pick, Darius Fleming, come in to Runde Chevrolet to pick up a smoking hot Black Camaro coupe!  Darius played for Notre Dame as an outside linebacker and is training for the 49ers currently. He found time to come from his training camp in Lake Forest, IL to pick up his Camaro from our salesman, Mark Fleege. Darius was gracious enough to let us interview him. You might be surprised by some of his unique talents and what he has in common with the movie “Rudy”! Are you originally from the area? No, I’m from the south side of Chicago.  I grew up in the Beverly area, right off of Western Ave. around 119th. Did you have a nickname growing up? My nickname was Baby-D, because I was named after my uncle.   Since his name was Darius as well, they called me Baby-D so when somebody would say “Darius” it [...]
The Chevy Camaro has been turning heads since it was first released, but now there’s an eye-catching new option. Thanks to a very creative exterior vinyl wrap, an innovative Czech Republic company has sucessfully turned one of America’s most popular modern muscle cars into an elegant, awesome, artistic spectacle. The new 2011 Camaro Convertible arrived at Runde Chevrolet in East Dubuque today and Mike Lawler in our Detail Department was kind enough to take some snap shots of the car for us.  What do you think???  Could you picture yourself flying down the highway in this black beauty?   For some of us (namely me), owning this car is just a fantasy.  But if you are in the driver’s seat of your dreams, please stop by our Chevrolet store on Hwy 35 to check out the car for yourself … and CLICK  HERE for more info about this Camaro Convertible.
he new Camaro’s are sweet. From looks to performance it’s apparent that Chevy put a lot of careful thought and consideration into the Camaro to make it as Bad*** as it is today. How do you make something sweet even sweeter? Pour more sugar on it, baby. Chevy is grabbing the sugar bags and pouring on the already awesome Camaro to make the new 2012 ZL1 Camaro. Making it’s debut appearance at the 2011 Chicago Auto Show, the ZL1 flexed it’s muscles for all to stare at. And while the numbers aren’t set in stone as of yet, it is expected that the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine in the Camaro will get 550 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque… nice! “official estimates of the car’s capabilities will be released later in 2011, as testing nears completion.” according to Chevrolet.
If you follow Runde Auto Chat, you may recall a story that we ran back in the spring of this year about Mardy Gilyard, who purchased a new 2010 Camaro SS from Runde’s.  At that time, he had finished up at the University of Cincinnati, where he starred as a wide receiver and kick returner.  He was on his way to the NFL Draft Combine where he would show NFL scouts just what he was made of.   Everyone in Cincinnati and his home state of Florida already knew that Mardy was a world-class athlete and at the NFL Combine (an invite-only event) back in February, he put his talent on display for the rest of the world to see.     The St. Louis Rams took particular notice of him and, after they failed to shock the world by taking Sam Bradford [...]
We sat down this morning and had a quick chat with the highly energetic and ever-ambitious Brandon Hanger. Brandon has been working nights at Runde’s for the past four years. We were so impressed with his professional drive that we immediately added him to our sales staff. He wound up selling four new cars today and he’s already decided to put the commission money away for his retirement. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-YpT6KNq18&hl=en_US&fs=1]
Ed Whitacre, the CEO of General Motors, annouced that GM has paid back all of the borrowed money in full to the government with interest. This gigantic announcement demonstrates a level of confidence within the company that has surfaced mainly due to a slimmed down product line, a more refined company focus, and exciting new products like the Chevy Equinox, the Chevy Camaro, and the Buick LaCrosse that are selling almost as quickly as they arrive on dealers’ lots. With this move, they are basically saying that they wholeheartedly believe GM is now on the right track to profitibility. And here at Runde Chevrolet and Runde Buick, we know without-a-doubt that GM is back on track and ready for the road ahead. The tank is full, the engine is hummin’, and the GPS is set … Destination … Success. Full speed ahead. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-XrbVFG7o0&hl=en_US&fs=1&]
I was up at the Runde PreDriven store the other day and I was informed by one of the salesmen that Sammy Hagar was in the house. I thought, ”What an opportunity … we can get a interview with Sammy for the blog … I wonder what he’s looking to purchase?  A Camaro?  A Vette?” I asked where he was.   Chris pointed to Johnny Kramer, who works up at that store and was sportin’ a new hairdo.  It wasn’t the actual Red Rocker, but it was an uncanny resemblance. I took some quick photos of Johnny (You may recall that Johnny was featured previous in a Runde Auto Chat interview back in 2009) and then I went about my business.  A few minutes later there was a big commotion out in front of the dealership as a bus-load of tourists pulled up.  As the tourists filed out of the bus, they began taking pictures of Johnny left and right. They were shouting things like: “Look [...]

This past week we had the pleasure of having a customer come in who owns this beautiful ’68 Chevy Camaro. It’s not too often that you see a Camaro of this year in such good shape. While he was here, we let him check out the new 2010 Camaro to get a sense of what the grandchild of his car is like. We all know that cars can’t talk without the aid of Hollywood’s magic.   However, I wonder what the conversation would be like if these two could have an actual car-to-car verbal exchange.   Take a look at these two together:
So often we see television programs overloaded with commercial after commercial.  And for about the past 8 or 9 years these same commercials have made their way into the movie theaters just to annoy us when we show up early for a flick.  Furthermore, we have have to ask if there is anyone out there who would just like to view a news clip on Yahoo for once without having to watch the preceeding commercial.   From the day we posted our first blog entry, it has always been our policy at here Runde Auto Chat to provide you with uninterrupted, good old-fashioned, wholesome, family-oriented blogging.  We haven’t cluttered our blog site with unnecessary and unwarranted advertisements until now … [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWKisUSxjXk&hl=en&fs=1] But seriously folks … If you want to buy Big Red, go to Walgreens and get yourself a pack. If you want to smoke a cigarette, go to Walgreens and buy yourself a pack of smokes (provided you are of the legal [...]
Mayonaise, Mayo Clinic, OJ Mayo of the Memphis Grizzlies, or a cute child uttering “may-oh” instead of “mail” may all share part of its name, but since when can you party with sandwich spread? That’s right folks, it’s Cinco De Mayo. Cinco De Mayo is the celebration of the Mexican army defeating the larger French army on May 5, 1862 where 4,000 Mexican soldiers  fought against 8,000 French soldiers. Overcoming odds, the Mexican army defended its territory when the French tried to invade the Mexican city “Puebla”.  The holiday is celebrated across Mexico and America as people celebrate their independence and freedom. So go out and celebrate – maybe you can enjoy some Pico De Gallo on your Cinco De Mayo. Whatever the case, we’ll be that even on Cinqo de Mayo you be able to find something that makes you go “Oh My”.    “Oh-My” =
No one likes to fill up with gas often. Taking huge beasts or power house vehicles on the road that get 12-16MPG can be a downer. Well, future owners of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro have one thing less to worry about as official reports from the EPA rate the Camaro at 18 City/29 Hwy MPG. Below is a fuel economy comparison chart of other muscle cars out there:     2010 Chevy Camaro 2010 Ford Mustang 2010 Dodge Challenger V6        18 city/29 hwy 16 city/24 hwy 17 city/25 hwy V8        16 city/25 hwy 17 city/23 hwy 13 city/19 hwy Add great fuel economy to an estimated 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds and you have a car that is not only fast and powerful but an all-in-one package. For more information about the Camaro or how to order one, call toll free (800) 947-8633 and we would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Sparked with jealousy and envy I write this post. Filled to the brim in all things cool – movie and television characters have it all… including cars I and, apparently, my fellow co-workers want to have. We love seeing our favorite characters cruise, leap, fly, chase and swim with their outrageously sweet rides. Here’s a list of the top 5 cars from movies and television we appreciate the most. #5. 1969 Dodge Charger “General Lee” from The Dukes of Hazzard  #4. 1970s Camaro, rebuilt as a 2008/2009 Camaro prototype in the 2007 movie Transformers #3. 1977 Firebird Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit #2. 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am “KITT” from Knight Rider #1. 67’ Shelby GT 500 Mustang “Eleanor” from Gone in 60 Seconds   Horable mentions: The Mystery Machine Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Batmobile Herbie
With the Detroit auto show going on this week, a lot of new vehicles have been released from their hiding places. Chrysler’s all-new EV (electric) line made quite an impression, as well as GM’s line of electric and fuel-efficient vehicles. The 2010 Chevy Equinox turned a lot of heads as well. The public show will begin tonight with a charity banquet, and the first full day is Saturday. But, if you’re more interested in sunny southwest desert than you are -50* temps in Michigan, you can go to the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona to see Ford & GM auction off their first production models of the 2010 Shelby GT500 and the Camaro SS. All proceeds will go to the American Heart Association.
Runde Chevrolet is now taking orders for the 2010 Chevy Camaro, which is expected to be available in the spring of 2009. Hurry into the store to be one of the first to own one! Our East Dubuque location has already taken a few orders, and many more are anticipated.   The new Camaro starts at $22,995, and you get your choice of a six-speed manual or a TAPshift automatic transmission. The V6 automatic will have about 300 horsepower and still get about 27 mpg on the highway. For the speed demons out there, a 400 horsepower V8 is available with Active Fuel Management to enhance fuel efficiency, or the 422 horsepower V8 manual.   Bluetooth wireless technology and USB connectivity are available on select models, and one-year OnStar Safe & Sound comes standard. Other options, such as sunroof, premium sound system, and Convenience and Connectivity Package are also available. [...]
GM recently unveiled the production version of the 2010 Camaro. Many reporters and consumers expressed their amazement of how true the production model is to the concept. They were also amazed to learn about the technology, safety and performance features included in the Camaro, the new definition of the 21st Century Sports Car. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_oPqnh1Blo&hl=en&fs=1]  Here are some Camaro highlights: Design • Sleek styling with heritage-inspired cues and 10 available exterior colors. • Detailed interior with excellent attention to detail and available ambient LED lighting technology. • RS Appearance Package available on LT and SS, with HID headlamps that include integrated “halo ring” feature, spoiler, specific taillamps and 20-inch wheels. You may have already seen these photos, however they are still the most accurate pictures of the new Camaro that will be released not too far off in the future. First, they are the only ones around showing the final headlight design. All of the ones that have been released to this point still have the temporary set up headlamps. Also these particular shots are the only ones around of the production version of the long-awaited Camaro convertible. If you’re interested in putting your name on a sign-up list to order one of the very first new Camaro’s that will come off the GM production line, then please contact the sales department at Runde Chevrolet at 800-947-8633
The retro look is now back in full force as Dodge will soon unleash the Challenger SRT8. The new Challenger will compete head-to-head with the Ford Mustang in the retail muscle car market. And not too far off in the future, Chevy will release their all-new Camaro that will hint back to the ’69 Camaro of yesteryear. Dodge representatives have not yet announced final pricing for the more-affordable SE and R/T models, but they have said it will be priced to take on the Mustang, which starts at $20,000. This is good news for those who like the look of the car, but aren’t willing or able to shell out the beaucoup bucks that the SRT8 will undoubteldy command. Please feel free to call to the Runde Dodge Store in Manchester at 888-927-2630 for more information about the availability of the all-new Challenger. Dodge has already sold more [...]
