Mike Lawler worked for Runde’s full-time while he went to high school. After graduating, Mike went off to college, but he still comes back to work here when he comes back home. While Mike was here for the Thanksgiving weekend, we took a few minutes to chat with him and find out what college life is like. RAC: Where are you going to college? ML: Western Illinois University — It’s about two and a half hours away. RAC: And do you have your own car? ML: Yeah, a 2000 Cavalier Z24. RAC: Nice. Aluminum wheels? Air Conditioning? Cruise Control? ML: Yes sir. RAC: Prodigious! Do you like college so far? You’re going to the school in Macomb, IL right? ML: Yeah the school’s nice. Macomb’s a smaller town – I think it’s about 20,000 people. RAC: Runde’s sells a lot of vehicles to people from Macomb. Do you see any cars that you maybe got [...]
The twenty-sixth of October with kids roamin’ all over. Main Street was all cluttered with folk. Comin’ down the street was a royal fleet and the diesel was-a-blowin’ smoke. Yeah them smokies were holdin’ back the traffic. They even had a Segway with Paul Blart. Those Jackson’s were-a-dancin’ for quite a spell. And they were showin’ an abundance of heart. “Cause we gotta great big convoy, rockin’ through the night. Yeah we gotta great big convoy, ain’t she a beautiful sight? Come on an’ join our convoy, ain’t nothin’ gonna git in our way. We’re gonna roll this truckin’ convoy, cross the USA. Convoy.” Well that’s what it seemed like. Ok. It was just the Annual Dubuque Halloween Parade, but [...]
Raise your hand if you don’t like to have fun. Those of you who raised your hand can stop reading this post now, thank you for your time. For the remaining fun-loving individuals still here, listen up. East Dubuque is having an Independence Day Celebration on Sunday, June 28th from 1pm ’til dusk. Runde’s is very excited that we are sponsoring and donating to this event but we are even more excited to go to it. We were so anxious for the event that we decided to kidnap Casey Klein, board member of the East Dubuque Business and Tourism Group, in order to gain more information about the event. So Casey, can you describe for me what the Old Fashioned Independence Day Celebration event is?
Autoblog: “Unlike the Highlander, the Traverse actually has some usable space behind its third-row seat. Where the Traverse really shines is its driving dynamics.” Boston Globe: “It’s sophisticated, yet friendly, edgy without being offensive -attractive.” NY Times: “The Traverse‟s steering was more responsive than the Pilot‟s, and its shifts were smoother. While the Pilot felt like a big S.U.V., the Traverse acted like a particularly agile minivan —although G.M. has managed to keep the Traverse from looking like one.” Popular Mechanics: “It looks great, it’s easy to use as a family hauler and, most important to us, it actually provides a rewarding experience from that left front seat.” USA Today: “…the good looks, improved powertrain and straightforward presentation of styling and features make Traverse quite appealing.” [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-PcJJ7zB2o&hl=en&fs=1] AutoWeek: “…the Traverse, which, quite simply, is one of the best vehicles–not just crossovers–on the market today.” Chicago Sun-Times: “The Traverse is a great family vehicle that‟s both [...]

This year, the re-designed F-150 edged the Dodge Ram to become the 2009 North American Truck of the Year. It was named the MotorTrend Truck of the Year as well. Kelley Blue Book also named it the 2009 Redesigned Vehicle, and SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) named it the most ‘Accessory-Friendly Truck’. If awards aren’t proof enough, the F-150 is still the best-selling vehicle in the country. Runde Auto Group of Manchester is anticipating the arrival of it’s newest line-up member. The Ford Flex is an all new vehicle for 2009 and it’s a very important one for Ford as it replaces their mini-van segment. What? No more mini-vans? Evidentally Ford execs were evesdropping at wedding ceremonies where couples actually made it a part of their vows that they would: 1) never own a mini-van, and 2) not allow Michael Bolton’s music in any of their vehicles. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-EVdGzE5Esg&hl=en&fs=1] Check out this video test-drive of the new Flex. It’s interesting that the reviewer states he’s 6’4″ and he has no problems with the space inside the Flex — including the proverbial third row. It’s also interesting that the man in the video points out that he wasn’t too fond of the looks of the vehicle before he saw it in person and how it really started to grow on him quickly once he saw [...]
