The second year of DBQ Con is going to be bigger and better this year!

The comic book and all things gaming convention, set for Saturday-Sunday, Oct 1-2, will again be at the Five Flags Center in Dubuque. Show hours are Saturday 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

More than 1,300 people attended last year’s event.

“The first year was very well received,” said John Ohnesorge, owner of Top Billing Entertainment, who is in charge of the event. “The overall consensus was very good.”

The event will feature comic books and related items, video and table top gaming items for sale, table top gaming tournaments both days, an improved Cosplay contest, and more!

Special guests include David Nykl, who plays Dr. Radek Zelenka in the SyFy series “Stargate Atlantis,” Sean Rogerson, who played Lance Preston in horror films “Grave Encounters” and “Grave Encounters 2,” and actor Erick Avari, who appeared in “Mr. Deeds,” “Stargate,” and “The Mummy.”

Runde Auto Group is a proud sponsor of the theater that will be showing movies and television shows.

Ohnesorge said the event focuses on a niche that has a lot of fans in the area.

“If they like Cosplay, gaming, Sci-Fi, or comic books, it would be of great interest to them,” he said.

Tickets are $12 for a one-day pass and $15 for a two-day pass. Children ages 7 and younger are admitted free of charge. To buy tickets, visit http://fiveflagscenter.com/EventsCalendar/DBQCon.aspx
