GM’s Warranty Now Goes Out to 100,000 miles — But Your GM Vehicle Might Run For 1,000,000 Miles — It Happend to Frank
Frank Oresnik of southeastern Wisconsin achieved a major milestone on February 9, 2008, when his gas-engine 1991 Chevy Silverado pickup with a reached 1,000,000 miles on it’s odometer and the truck still has it’s original engine. Frank had a camera crew and local radio stations capture the event. He passed the million-mile mark in southeastern Wisconsin while on his way back home to Catawba, located in the north in Price County, about an hour west of Rhinelander.
GM is now featuring Frank and his truck, which he calls “the old girl,” in a National commercial that you can view below. Frank bought his truck in 1996 with only 41,000 miles on it and has since used it for his personal business delivering seafood and steaks around the upper Midwest. Oresnik credits his 1 millionth mile to his regular oil changes — he said that the truck has had over 300 oil changes in it’s lifetime. “It’s had so many changes that the oil pan drain plug had to be re-threaded several times…you never hear of that”. Frank said, “I wont say it was relief … it was exhilarating. This truck has been so dependable over the years.”Now that it’s made history, the truck could be headed back to the manufacturer. He said that GM has contacted him and they are interested in buying 1991 Silverado.
When Chevrolet General Manager Ed Peper learned about the milestone, he said, “Most Dependable, Longest Lasting isn’t just a slogan, and it applies not only to Chevy pickups but to the people who drive them. We get lots of mail from customers with hundreds of thousands of miles on their Chevy trucks – so much, in fact, we formed the Silverado 200,000 mile club in 2006 – but a million miles is certainly remarkable. We’re glad to have Mr. Oresnik on the Chevy team.”
Congrats to Mr. Oresnik. May your next truck be as dependable as this one.
