In a tie for "coolest car at the auto-show" I give you the Ford Mustang GT500.

Remembering the Classics

Vehicles , Places of Interest , Technology , Ford

While the new vehicles being displayed at the auto show were fascinating and exciting, there's something about vehicles that haven't been seen on the road for a long time that strike that same emotion. Looking at some of the first vehicles ever invented really gave me an up-close and personal look at just how far we have come. Take a gander at the vehicles below... They were using wood as a body frame material and actual lanterns were being used as lights. Automotively speaking, some things that we find today to be primitive are beautiful in my mind. But beauty aside, I don't think the National Committee for Highway Safety would see lit lanterns hanging from a vehicle as "safe". In the event of an accident in today's world, open flames and potentional gas leaks aren't exactly seen as the best combination. Just think 100 years into the future... they'll be saying: "I can't believe they used fiberglass and steel for the vehicle bodies and their engines burned gas and diesel!" Vehicles clearly are a measure of progress and creativity for our society. Who knows what the future will hold on the vehicular timeline ... but something tells me that our great, great grandchildren will still be whining for a way to be transported to the mall on snowy winter days when school has been cancelled. Enjoy a blast from the past with these Classic Ford cars!

Don Hart - Reaching Out to Those in Need

Customers , Interviews , Chevy

Don Hart is a guy who always seems to be on the go. From being a landlord, plowing and maintaining several rental properties to helping out those in need by doing missionary work, Don's always on the move. He calls himself "retired" but it looks like he has a full load to me! To learn more about this interesting person, we had a nice chat before he hit the mean streets in his new HHR.

How did you find Runde's?
I found you guys through the internet.

What site did you use? Did you find the vehicle you needed right away? Autotrader.com, I found the exact car I was looking for so I called you guys up. I talked to Al, I was pretty impressed by Al.

What car did you find?
I was looking for a Chevy HHR. Found it online, came here and test drove it, it was great so I took it.

What do you plan to do with the HHR?
The HHR is actually for my wife.

What would you rank your experience here at Runde's on a scale of 1-10?
I'd have to give it a 10. It was fast service - I talked to Al yesterday and today I got the car. This is only the second time I've bought a vehicle from a dealer. I bought an Opel long ago and hated the car. I used to live in the San Joaquin Valley in California and the car's air-conditioner was inadequate for the 90+ degree weather there which the dealer failed to tell me. To say the least I wasn't happy dealing with the car or the dealer. This one looks very promising though.

What would you rank Al on a scale of 1-10?
I'd say at least an 8 (I don't want his head to swell up too much.)

So you're married ...
Yes I'm married. We just celebrated our 30th anniversary on January 1st.

You live around the area?
I live in Lanark Illinois, it's about 50 miles from this PreDriven store.

Would you recommend Runde's to a friend?
Oh yea, for sure.

What do you like to do in your spare-time?
Fish. Usually on the Mississippi. I also do Mission Work and Rehab Work. I used to belong to a group called Brother in Disaster Ministry, I've been to "Katrina" and Rushford, MN and other places helping out. If we get an opportunity to help out in Haiti we will go there as well.

What kind of things do you do in these places?
Rehabilitate old houses that have been through floods and things like that. We also do sheet-rocking and basically anything else that it takes to get things back together.

Do you have any favorite movie or show?
I like Dancing with the Stars and American Idol. American Idol is at the point right now where they go to Hollywood to compete.

If there was one invention you couldn't live without, what would it be?
*starts laughing* I like guns. But there really isn't anything that I couldn't live without.

Thanks Don, hope your wife loves the HHR!

Chicago Auto Show Review #1 Cruze, Aveo RS and Volt!

Vehicles , Places of Interest , Chevy
The McCormick building - Where the magic happens.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and go on record saying the Chicago Auto Show is the auto lovers' candy store. The autos are eye candy for kids of all ages. "Bake me up a fresh batch of those Chevy's, Candyman!!!" Walking in the entrance to the show floor, it becomes overwhelming to think which direction to go first. Shortly after glancing over the offerings, it becomes apparent that your hours are turning into minutes and that the closing time of 10pm is far from fair.

For those of you who couldn't make the show, have no fear! Runde's has you covered! Over the next week or so look forward to a review of the Auto Show, starting today with a few vehicles that were on display from Chevy. Check out the video's below to see footage of the Cruze, Aveo RS and Volt!
