Kathy and Marv Jones - Much Love for Runde's

Customers , Interviews No Comments »

Recently I had the chance to get to meet Marv and Kathy Jones, two fine folks from Freeport, IL. They enjoyed their experience so much that they wanted to share it with me and the rest of the world. Here's what they had to say:

What led you here to Runde Auto Group?
I'm always lookin' for something. Yesterday I drove through the PreDriven lot and saw a car the caught my eye. So I got out and looked at it then told my wife about it, before you know it we were talking to Al.

What did you think of your experience here?
It was absolutely great.

On a scale of 1-10 what would you rate your salesman, Al Kloft?
Probably an 11. He was really cool. He's laid back and straight forward.

Where are you guys from?
We're from Freeport. We live in Cuba City now. It will be two years come February.

What vehicle were you looking for?
We were looking for an Avalanche because we figured it would be in our price range, I was just about to go home after seeing some decent ones but decided to drive through the Suzuki lot and found the Avalanche we bought today.

Would you recommend Runde's to friends and family?
Ohhh, definitely.

What do you guys like to do in your spare-time?
We like to go on vacations with family and friends. Marv: I have a motorcycle I like to ride around.

Bet you can't wait till this nasty cold weather goes away, huh?
You have no idea! Last summer I went to Colorado and back on my motorcycle, might go to Yellowstone this year.

Do you have kids?
We have one son, Daniel is a Chiropractor in Platteville.

Make sure to give him word about your great experience here, we'd love to have more of your family become our family.
Definitely, will do.

Do you have a favorite restaurant in the area?
We eat out a lot, we like Olive Garden quite a bit. Like Perkins for breakfast.

What do you plan on doing with the vehicle?
Just for general use. Back and forth to work and whatnot.

Where would you visit if you had the money and time?
New England, Alaska... we haven't really been to any exotic places. We were supposed to go on a cruse this month but canceled.

Do you have anything to add?
I was just impressed with everything. Most places are very "pushy" but I felt very comfortable with him. If we were to say "sorry, we are no longer interested in the vehicle" Al would understand and not hold any grudges. He's what a salesman should be.

Thank you so much for sitting down with me today, enjoy your Avalanche!

Hitch a Ride in the Truck of the Year

Taxi cabs are a huge part of big city life. Those of us from the Tri-States have probably been, at some point or another, to downtown Chicago (or another big city - if not you should really get out more...). Walking down the sidewalk and glancing at the traffic on big city streets, you probably think "glad I'm not driving in that mess of cars." Chances are that you have experienced crazy taxi drivers -- I know I have. Several taxi drivers that I've witnessed don't much care for the laws of the road as they almost hit pedestrians. Since when does a red light mean go anyway? Just as 30 is the new 20, red must be the new yellow in Metropolis.

If you're thinking about going back to Chicago in the near future, you'd better be prepared for the possibility of being hit by a whole lot bigger Taxi as the truck of the year - Ford Transit - has high hopes to make a debut as a Taxi fairly soon.

In addition to having more cargo and leg space, the Transit Taxi is working on offering a rear entertainment package for customers that will have a screen displaying stock quotes, weather conditions and cab fare among other things. In addition, it will offer a credit-card swipe pay station for passengers. Last, Ford promises that the taxi will be available with a version of Ford Work Solutions that includes high-speed internet.

Begs the question, is this a cab or a limo?

The Transit Connect Taxi goes into production this year and will available as a 2011 model.

The Future of Getting Busted

Vehicles , Technology No Comments »

As you lay down in bed and flip through the channels, you find absolutely nothing to watch as usual. You resort to watching a re-re-re-re-rerun of an episode of Cops with footage from the 80's and can't stop thinking to yourself "I've never seen this stuff happen anywhere near me on the highway". Continuing to watch the footage you eagerly wait and see what kind of damage this dude is going to unleash while driving so recklessly. It isn't until about 5 other cars get hit and the suspect's wheels come flying off as he ingeniously tries to make a sharp turn into a field full of cows does the chase end.

Get ready for chase scenes on T.V. to get a whole lot more boring. The High Powered Electro Magnetic System (HPEMS) is an invention recently unveiled that will stop a car (this is definitely post 1980's technology) in it's tracks. Check out the video below to see how it works.
