Chevy Volt Buyers Eligible for a Free 240-Volt Charge Station

Customers , Vehicles , Technology , Safety , Chevy , Community

The Volt is just about here and Earth is anxiously waiting for its eco-friendly arrival. Why not help out the environment while experiencing one of the most high-tech rides of all-time. And at the same time, you can save some green in gas $$$ for driving green? It all seems like a win-win to me. You know what else, though? The fact that if you buy the Volt you could be going home to a professionally installed 240-volt charge station.

The Volt runs in one of three ways. 1. All electric - up to 40 miles on a single charge. 2. Extended range capability (gas/electric mixed) - designed to drive up to 350 miles without stopping to recharge or refuel. 3. Gasoline - will last another 300 miles. Needless to say, the Volt won't be seen filling up too frequently thanks to the power of the electricity. But the Volt must be filled with that electricity stuff to obtain optimal results. You can charge it with your standard 120-volt outlet which will take roughly 8 hours to charge. OR you could go the more express way about things and go with the 240 volt charge station and save yourself, at least, 5 hours (3 hour charge).

With the Volt coming out soon the DOE (Department of Energy) is helping to install roughly 15,000 plug-in vehicle chargers across America to test and get data on this new, industry-changing technology.

From the press release: "At the time of purchase, Volt buyers will receive a portable 120-volt charge cord, and will have the option of installing a 240-volt charge station available from Chevrolet. Volt buyers that live within the program cities may apply for a free 240-volt home charging station through the Coulomb or ECOtality programs if they are willing to share their charging information. Additional consumer information on eligibility requirements and the application process will be available when the Volt goes on sale later this year."

Guess we'll just have to wait and see if any of us in the Tri-State area are within the "program cities" they plan on giving these stations away to. In either case, look forward to the Volt coming our way VERY soon!

               New Regal

We just got in the 2011 Buick Regal at our Buick store in Cuba City! To those who may not be familiar with this new release then you are probably surprised to know that it is a Regal. It looks nothing like the Regal's that you probably remember. You know, those things your grandparents drove you around in everywhere as a kid? Yeah, well they just became a HOT commodity. Check out the video below for a walk around and more information on the Regal.

Ford SYNC Gets Even Beefier

Technology

If the toppings are free, the more the merrier, right? I'd like to think so, especially with Ford's already impressive "topping" list of features such as Turn by Turn Directions, Traffic Alerts, Hands Free Calling, Voice Activated Music, and 911 Assist, just to name a few. But now there's even more to look FORwarD to as the SYNC will be capable of pulling up Movie Listings, Stock Quotes, Airline and Rentals and even your Horoscope!

In a tech world, Ford keeps our appetites in check with all of these great features that keep getting packed on top of their already great SYNC technology. Check out the video below for more information and demonstrations of the new features. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYUiQb3lXrQ&feature=player_embedded]

Fiesta Is Near... and Even More to Get Excited For(d)

Technology , Ford

What's not to love about the Fiesta. The fact that it demolishes its competition, such as the Honda FIT and the Toyota Yaris, in nearly every category out there just isn't enough sometimes. So here's more! The Fiesta, in addition to beating the competition in terms of horsepower (competition ranges from 106 to 117 hp vs. the Fiesta at 120 HP) , Safety and features now also take the top prize in terms of fuel economy. While the FIT offers an impressive 28/35 MPG it falls short of the Fit's recently announced and officially official 29/40 MPG. Need I remind you that in addition to all of these class superior specs, the Fiesta starts at $13,320 while the FIT starts at $14,900 - why pay more to get less?

Try one for yourself this summer when they start rolling out of production, you'll see why so many people are excited to get their hands on one.

While I wasn't aware that the Lamborghini is in the sub-compact Class, the Fiesta is apparently better!

Other reasons Fiesta is better than others in its class:

GM EN-V Prototype - "The Future" Never Looked so Present

Technology , Chevy

Want a good indication that the future is here? How about the fact that the products currently in the works make the things that we could have only imagined "to be the future" look primitive and obsolete?

The EN-V (Electric Networked-Vehicle) manufactured by G.M. plans to be hitting the streets as the new "Urban Mobility Vehicle" (think along the lines of a Segway, but not nearly as basic and lame). Tired? Drunk? Hurt or just lazy? The EN-V has you covered as it works autonomously, meaning that it can drive itself with the integrated GPS.

In addition to an array of safety features and smart programming for heavy traffic, sudden reaction sensing, and the like, the EN-V is an electric vehicle. It will plug into a conventional wall outlet and will give out around 40 kilometers of juice in one charge and is A-OK for the environment. There are three different EN-V's that are prototypes, the Jiao (Pride), Miao (Magic) and Xiao (Laugh). Each of the different models have the same features with a different look, accommodating personal preference. Someone tell the Jetson's to trade in that space junk for one of these.
